How has your thinking about online schools and online schooling changed since the first week?
In the first week, I was unaware that states even had their own online schools or online schooling available. I assumed that any online courses would be national schools and not aligned to specific state standards. I now realize that there are even more schools in existence than I once thought.
The charter and state schools both offer courses for credit recovery, which surprised me because I thought that online schools/online schooling was mainly for those students that wanted to take AP courses or other courses that were not available at their own school.
Also, during the first week, I thought that online courses offered for the K-12 grades would be only asynchronous. It was interesting to find out that schools were developing more ways to promote student-student interaction, rather than just teacher-student. I also learned that schools' efforts to include synchronous time and videochat are more frequent.
